Watch out, Orlando, a new world theme park capital is rising in the Arabian desert
For decades, Orlando has reigned as the global capital of theme parks — a place where Disney, Universal, SeaWorld and countless other attractions have drawn millions of visitors.

But a challenger for the crown has emerged from an unlikely place: the deserts of the Arabian Gulf. In a destination once known more for oil wealth and camel racing than roller coasters, Abu Dhabi is building an adrenaline-charged playground that could give Orlando a run for its money.

And it just landed the ultimate weapon: Disney.

In May 2025, when Disney announced its first new theme park in 15 years, it chose Abu Dhabi over other key theme park destinations in California, Japan and even Orlando.

There was “no question,” says Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences. The UAE capital, already home to Ferrari World, with the world’s fastest roller coaster; Warner Bros. World (built under license by CNN’s parent company, Warner Brothers Discovery); Yas Waterworld, an epic network of slides and pools; and more recently, SeaWorld Yas Island Abu Dhabi. It’s clear the emirate is emerging as the most serious challenger Orlando has ever faced.

Disneyland Abu Dhabi, expected to open on Yas Island in the early 2030s, will be the company’s most technologically advanced park ever. Renderings show a shimmering, futuristic tower at its center — more closely resembling Abu Dhabi’s gleaming skyline than a traditional European castle. It will be the first Disney resort set on an accessible shoreline, located just 20 minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi.

The theme park will be developed, built and operated by Miral, the Abu Dhabi company behind Yas Island’s roster of other attractions. Disney Imagineers will handle creative design and operational oversight, making sure the new park is in keeping with Disney’s brand.

Miral’s CEO, Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, says demand already exists: 2024 saw a 20% rise in theme park attendance on Yas Island. And expansion is already in the works — a Harry Potter–themed land at Warner Bros. World, more record-breaking rides at Ferrari World, new themed hotels, and even two beaches along Yas Bay Waterfront.

Abu Dhabi’s location, a medium-haul flight away from both Europe and Asia, and relatively short hop away from India, means millions of potential visitors are within relatively easy reach.

“This isn’t about building another theme park,” Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Abu Dhabi’s director general of tourism, told CNN. “It’s about defining Abu Dhabi as a global destination where culture, entertainment and luxury intersect.”

Hi, my name is Natalia Sergovantseva. I am a VIP Matchmaker & Concierge, trusted by HNWIs and accomplished professionals worldwide to create meaningful connections through a psychology-driven approach.
relationship programs
My own journey proved that love has no age limits: I met my husband at 42, relocated to London with my son, and built a family life that inspires the work I do today. ??

Over the years, I have personally helped more than 50 clients find their soulmates — relationships built on trust, respect, and true compatibility.

I understand how challenging it is to find “the one” — a partner who brings true comfort, safety, and joy, and who is genuinely ready for a serious relationship.

Too often, even the most successful people attract the wrong partners — players, narcissists, or those who simply aren’t aligned with their values. That’s why my work goes beyond introductions: I curate each match with precision, combining psychology, intuition, and a global network. ??

(BTC wallet generators).

(Crypto Paper Wallet)
btc wallet generator

online crypto wallet

(Online Crypto Wallet)

(BTC Wallet Generator)

Israel’s attack in Doha was not entirely surprising, given Israel’s vow to eliminate Hamas — but some aspects of it are still shocking.

Here are three main reasons:
mega2o2nde2gzktxse2fesqpyfeoma72qmvk3fkecip2l3uv3tbn5mad onion
Israel claimed credit immediately – in contrast to the last time the Israelis targeted a Hamas leader outside Gaza.
The US and Israel had asked Qatar to host Hamas leaders. Hamas’ location was not a secret. There was an unstated understanding that while Israel could assassinate the leaders, they would not do so, given Qatar’s mediation role.
The strike makes a hostage deal less likely, since any agreement requires negotiating with Hamas leadership in Doha.

The trial of Bryan Kohberger – the man who brutally murdered four University of Idaho students inside their off-campus home – ended in July before it ever truly began when he accepted a plea deal that saw him sentenced to four consecutive life terms in prison without the possibility of an appeal or parole.

Kohberger sat impassively throughout the hearing as the loved ones of each of the four students whose lives he so callously ended repeatedly asked him the same question: Why?
tripscan
And when he was finally given the opportunity to answer their questions, he said, “I respectfully decline.”

That decision further fueled the mystery around his motive for murdering Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin and Kaylee Goncalves.

“There’s no reason for these crimes that could approach anything resembling rationality,” Idaho District Judge Steven Hippler said during Kohberger’s sentencing. “The more we try to extract a reason, the more power and control we give to him.”

But, he added, investigators and researchers may wish to study his actions – if only to learn how to prevent similar crimes from occurring in the future.

Indeed, academics and former FBI profilers told CNN the challenge of unravelling the criminal mind of a man like Bryan Kohberger is enticing. And while his trial may be over, in many ways, the story of what can be learned from his crimes may have only just begun.

“We want to squeeze any silver lining that we can out of these tragedies,” said Molly Amman, a retired profiler who spent years leading the FBI’s Behavioral Threat Assessment Center.

“The silver lining is anything we can use to prevent another crime. It starts with learning absolutely, positively everything about the person and the crime that we possibly can.”

CNN
Only Kohberger knows
Even seasoned police officers who arrived at 1122 King Road on November 13, 2022, struggled to process the brutality of the crime scene.

All four victims had been ruthlessly stabbed to death before the attacker vanished through the kitchen’s sliding glass door and into the night.

“The female lying on the left half of the bed … was unrecognizable,” one officer would later write of the attack that killed Kaylee Goncalves. “I was unable to comprehend exactly what I was looking at while trying to discern the nature of the injuries.”

Initial interviews with the two surviving housemates gave investigators a loose timeline and a general description of the killer – an athletic, White male who wore a mask that covered most of his face – but little else.

Police later found a Ka-Bar knife sheath next to Madison’s body that would prove to be critical in capturing her killer.

One of the surviving housemates told police about a month before the attacks, Kaylee saw “a dark figure staring at her from the tree line when she took her dog Murphy out to pee.”

“There has been lighthearted talk and jokes made about a stalker in the past,” the officer noted. “All the girls were slightly nervous about it being a fact, though.”

But after years of investigating the murders, detectives told CNN they were never able to establish a connection between Kohberger and any of the victims, or a motive.

Kohberger is far from the first killer to deny families and survivors the catharsis that comes with confessing, in detail, to his crimes. But that, former FBI profilers tell CNN, is part of what makes the prospect of studying him infuriating and intriguing.

What we're covering

• Israel is facing growing condemnation after it attacked Hamas leadership in the capital of Qatar, a US ally and key mediator in Gaza ceasefire talks — putting hostage negotiations at risk.

• Hamas said the strike killed five members but failed to assassinate the negotiating delegation, the target of the strikes.
• US President Donald Trump has criticized the strike, saying that by the time his administration learned of the attack and told the Qataris, there was little he could do to stop it.

• The attack is the first publicly acknowledged strike on a Gulf state by Israel. Qatar’s prime minister was visibly angry and said his country’s tradition of diplomacy “won’t be deterred.”

The indictment of former FBI Director James Comey made public on Thursday is likely to put on display, yet again, the blockbuster political discourse around the FBI investigations in 2016 that affected the presidential election.

Comey, the long-time nemesis of Donald Trump from the early days of Trump’s first term, has been criminally charged with two felonies, both related to a lie he allegedly told Congress in 2020.

Though the attorney general and even prosecutors on the case had reservations about its strength, acting US Attorney Lindsey Halligan — appointed by the president over the weekend after a previous US attorney left due to disagreements over charging Trump’s political opponents – presented the charges to a close grand jury meeting in Alexandria, Virginia, on Thursday afternoon.

In the grand jury room, 14 of at most 23 grand jurors decided prosecutors had probable cause to indict Comey, subsequent court proceedings on Thursday revealed. Yet one charge prosecutors had wanted against Comey was rejected by the grand jury.
